United States is a typical immigration country. There are many people come from different countries around the world who immigrated to the United States. As a new immgration of my self, since the day that I came to the United States, cosmopolitansim’s problem is the one that I deal with every day, and it is also the problem that I have been thinking a lot. Acoording to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, “Everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration, without distinction of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Also, the one that helps and support Little Bee at UK. As soon as Little Bee arrived in UK, she was send to an immigration detention center. After Little Bee was released, she lives in Sarah’s home with Sarah’s son, Charlie, and her lover, Lawrence. At the end of the novel, Little Bee was deported back to Nigeria because she called the police when Charlie was missing. Through the novel, I realized that cosmopolitanism is not an easy thing to achieve, the oppressor such as the immigration detention center and Lawrence that should have the regardless of the consequences and self-sacrifice to help the oppressed; and the oppressed such as Little Bee should have self-awareness and self-identity on their own cultural. It requires effort of both two side to achieve the ends. In the novel of Little Bee, the immigration detention center and Sarah’s husband Andrew are both stand the side of oppressor. Acoording to the novel, “In the immigration detention center, they told us we must be disciplined to overcome our fears. This is the discipline I learned: whenever I go into a new place, I work out how I would kill myself there”(Cleave 47). The immigration detention center is the place that detained people who is illegal immigrants. From the sentence that Little Bee said, we can see what terrible things did she saw, she would rather die in her own hands than die at the hands of others.
