Distracted Driving and Safety Essay
As I was driving back to school from home last weekend I was constantly scanning the radio stations for something that I wanted to listen to. I kept taking my eyes off the road and my total focus was not on driving. I had become a distracted driver. I realized this when I was more worried about the radio that I was the road and missed my exit. No one was hurt in my example, however I do see how someone could get hurt. Since I had one hand messing with radio then I only have one on the steering wheel, which is not a reliable as having both hands on the wheel. We as humans sometimes get it in our heads that we can do anything and nothing will happen. By changing the radio station and taking our hands off the wheel we are increasing our chances of something bad happening to us or causing an accident. Along with messing with the radio we can easily become distracted by eating, drinking, smoking, and of course texting (Alosco). No matter the age that a driver is we are all guilty of at least one of them if not all. All these things can be considered a manual distraction because we are doing something with our hands to become distracted (Adeola).
