Why I Am An Application Of Counseling Program At Geneva College

Family. It is the thing that we run from when we feel that they do not understand what we are trying to achieve in life and yet the one thing we cling to when the world is falling down around us. I remember as a young child telling my parents that, "I cannot wait to be older so I can be my own adult and make my own choices and not live under you!" Now I am here, applying for graduate school, wondering how I am going to chase my dreams, and not have my mother and father there every night to talk to when I get home. So as I type this essay to explain why I am specifically applying to the M.A. in Counseling program at Geneva College I can say that the answer is simple and yet not so simple.

I am applying to the M.A. in Counseling program at Geneva College for my family and for every family out there that I feel the call or am called to help. As much as I fought as a child to leave my home and my family I have realized over my years that I would not trade them for the world. They are my family; the people I can depend on, talk about my dreams with, find comfort in, and pray with at the end of every day. Without my family, I would not be where I am now. I would not have paid my way through college without taking out loans and accruing debt. I would not have the relationship with God if I would not have had my parents to build the foundation of faith in my heart. I could never even begin to imagine where I would be without my family in my life; would I have even of made it…
