Why I Am A Doctor Essay

From a young age I knew I wanted to be a doctor. I remember my Kindergarten teacher asking me “imagine if you were to work at a factory with your parents”. I was young yet I knew what I wanted with my life and so I replied “Never going to happen, I’m going to be a doctor”. Since then I knew being a doctor was my long term goal. By virtue of my goal, I knew I would need to go to college and study medicine. Additionally by doing so, I would be the first person in my family to finish high school and go to college. I was motivated to prove my Kindergarten teacher wrong and to make my mom proud. I specifically mentioned my mom because my father never cared about my wellbeing or education. My mom on the other hand, pushed me and encouraged me to follow my dreams. Additionally, my mom is the main reason I wanted to be a doctor. Due to the lack of support from my father, my mom overworked herself to provide for me. My mom in anguish overcame many obstacles which I have learned much from. My mom’s sacrifice taught me many lessons that I would not have learned from school, and as a result, my values in life were also impacted as a because of my mom, and more importantly, the person I am today would not be alive if it were not for my mom.
Growing up, I was told my teachers, friends, and family that I was an intelligent child. I also grew up being told that I needed a good job to have a fulfilling life. My mom used herself as an example to inspire me. Due to her job, she has undergone…
