Why Animals Deserve Rights
Animals deserve to have the same rights as humans do. It is not our right to slaughter or maltreatment them in any way. Animals are living things, and their lives are just as precious as a human lives. All animals have emotions and memories, and they are all smart in their own ways. All animals, including humans, are living organisms, and we should value the existence of all life on planet earth.
Animals, like us, also have emotions. Animals can feel happy, sad, and even jealous. Experts have trained dogs to undergo MRI and fMRI scans. Researchers found that a dog’s brain answers similar to a human’s brain when shown to voices and warmly charged sounds, such as crying and laughter (Fischer). A Dolphin mother can feel grief when her infants have died (Nelson). Jealousy of parental attention between siblings has been seen in great apes (Aspinall). Charles Darwin said, “The lower animals, like man, manifestly feel pleasure and pain, happiness, and misery. (Darwin)” I agree with Darwin. Disagreeing that animals have emotions because the subject cannot be studied directly is not a judicious clarification.
Individuals use memories to make decisions we have faced before, such as remembering which foods taste the greatest, and thus picking the finest one when listed a choice. Animals, too, have memories. Creatures can be taught. Even goldfish have indicated to have memories lasting months (Daily Mail Reporter). Chimpanzees remember pictures and numerals…
