Society is divided into many groups through religion, politics and history. Within the division of society many groups become subject to becoming vulnerable due outlying factors. These groups have received more attention over the decade because of their vulnerability in society. The United Nations Enable (2006) highlights vulnerable groups as “people belonging to a group that share common characteristics or in situations that make them vulnerable to discrimination and exclusion from society.” Two groups who have become increasingly vulnerable is women and the disabled.

The Disabled have always been a forefront topic in society. Who to define as ‘disabled’ is always a question an individual asks. Article 1 of The Declaration on the Rights of Disabled Persons (1975) states that a disabled person is “any person unable to ensure by himself or herself, wholly or partly, the necessities of a normal individual and/or social life, as a result of deficient, either congenital or not, in his or her physical or mental capabilities.” Whereas a modern look on the disabled through Oliver (1996, p.22) who states “it is society which disables physically impaired people, disability is something imposed on top of the impairments.” Both are valid definitions of the Disabled. The Disabled have undergone various negative social conditions throughout time. From medieval times to modern, the social environment has defined disability as ‘deficit human beings,’ (Dimopoulos, 2010). The World…
