Due to the break away from Britain, it is a reason why America is a prospering country. A big question historians dispute about is where we would be at if the colonists wouldn’t have broken away from Britain? In the year of 1776, in the state of Philadelphia, the Continental Congress adopts the Declaration of Independence, which states the independence of a new United States of America from its king and all of Great Britain. The Declaration of Independence was approved and signed by Congress on July 4, 1776, but not all members signed it until August 2, 1776 when fifty six members of the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia signed the Declaration of Independence. Due to so much tension growing between the colonists and Britain the Battle of Lexington and Concord, fought on April 19, 1775, sent an impulse which started the American Revolutionary War. Then again the colonists were part of the French and Indian War which gave them more land, and Britain sent their troops to fight for them and protect them. The colonists were also the ones who opposed to the acts that Britain was passing in order to pay off their debt for example the Stamp act, Sugar act, Townshend acts, and Quebec act.
