Introduction
Proper communication in any situation can be the key to whether or not a goals is attained. When working in groups, it is imperative that communication is utilized to the utmost. This key element bares a moment of truth when considering leadership and self-leadership skills. The leadership discipline involves effective communication among the team members and the self-leadership discipline involves internal communication skills. This means that knowing how to motivate and influence decisions within the group as well as self. The purpose of the Mount Everest Simulation was to encourage and awareness in regards to how leadership and self-leadership was delivered.
Discussion
In the Mount Everest Simulation, group members utilized communication skills in effort to lead the group in different aspects and situations. These efforts of leadership helped the group members to understand their self-leadership skills. For example, the first task was to coordinate a time when the simulation could be conducted. Coordinating a meeting time deemed a bit more difficult that one would have expected. Since the assignment was to be completed virtually, one would think that organizing a time to meet would be rather simple. However, because each team member had so much going on in their lives, narrowing down a time when everyone could meet online in order to finish the assignment proved taxing.
