God’s Inventor The thunder roared in the distance as flashes of lightning streaked across the dark grey sky. Franklin 's kite glided in the azure, an old rusted key dangling from it along with his well-known lightning rod. Suddenly the sky illuminated with white, the kite burned and electricity streamed through his lightning rod and key. Touching the key, a sharp zap coursed through Franklin’s body (History.com 4). Franklin will soon after invent the most important necessity people will need for typical daily life. Benjamin Franklin was born on January 17, 1706 in colonial Boston (History.com 2). Josiah Franklin, his father, was a full time soap/candle maker. Franklin’s dad was married twice and had 17 children, him being the eighth child between Abiah Folger, Josiah’s second wife (History.com 2). After Benjamin turned ten years old, he then self-educated himself through books and his father. Benjamin Franklin’s contributions revolutionized America and its people through his role in science and achieving independence for the American people from Britain. Franklin’s inclination in science and creating new inventions shaped America and the world for the future.
