In this class so far we have looked at the history of the United States since the end of the Civil War, more specifically 1877. We have gone over a lot of different times and events in America. Wars, social movements, and cultural changes that further altered the United States into the nation it is today. Within this paper we shall hit on some key time periods in our history that shows great revolution and change in our society, politics, and economic status as a nation. Without the changes within these periods of time we may have ended up on a whole other spectrum than where we sit today. In this paper we will look at how industry made our country bloom into an economic power, a war that had everyone on the edge of their seat, fearing a nuclear attack, and a scandal that changed America’s view on the president for decades to come. That is a small preview of all the moments we will observe. Now we will start with a time period where we launched into economic success The Gilded Age of America. With America coming out of the Civil War we were at a weird transition time within our society. Our once oppressive country is now working towards accepting different ethnicities and races. Around 1880 an astounding amount of immigrants are starting to pool into America. The reaction too many immigrants coming in was mixed between accepting and opposing, it was never one side or the other. With all the new people coming businesses took advantage of the new audience.
