As part of an effort to address society’s demands and prepare students for citizenry, school leaders often faced with the challenges of planning and making necessary changes their school’s curriculum to meet the current demands of our society. As a result, the way the teacher may have learned social studies may be significantly different from the way our current elementary students are theoretically learning social studies. Therefore, it is to encourage children to use the clues presented in the different historical sources to ask questions and answer questions for the development of historical thinking. More important, teachers should teach young children how to interpret information, and construct knowledge of the past, based on the student’s own values and understanding.
