According to the SAGE Glossary of Social and Behavioral Sciences, a psychological disorder is defined as “a condition in which a person’s thoughts, feelings, or behaviors are thought to be in some way dysfunctional.” Psychological disorders are also referred to as mental health disorders. A problem is only considered a psychological disorder when it becomes significantly maladaptive to that person or others. In order to be classified as a psychological disorder, it must negatively interfere with the work, health, or socialization of an individual or their peers. Anxiety disorders, mood disorders, schizophrenia, and personality disorders are all examples of psychological disorders. These disorders range from mild to complex and most are treatable. Many people with mental health disorders find relief by actively engaging in individual treatment plans. Anxiety is experiencing fear when there is nothing that can physically harm us. Anxiety includes having cognitive fear and cognitive worry. It also yields physical symptoms. This category of psychological disorders range mostly in the mild to moderate category. Anxiety disorders are the most common psychological disorders, affecting fifteen percent of the population. Having an anxiety disorder affects the individuals’ daily activities. There are many different types of anxiety disorders. General anxiety disorder is the mildest and most frequent form of an anxiety disorder. Generalized anxiety disorder is also known as GAD. GAD…
